After a sabbatical for some of us here at PGPR, we dipped our toes back into the water with a new website design for Ayrshire Winter Golf Association (AWGA) which went live this week. AWGA organises competitions for PGA professionals and amateur golfers on some of the best links courses across Ayrshire through the winter months. When the topic of websites came up it was clear the AWGA online presence could do with a revamp and PGPR was tasked to come up with a solution, but to be mindful of the limited budget available. PGPR returned to WordPress as the platform of choice and set about building a fully responsive website for AWGA. WordPress allowed us to work on the content and design using the many themes and templates available. The backend Content Management System (CMS) is also flexible and user friendly for this type of project, which was important because ultimately we will hand over the reins of the day to day running and updates to the AWGA team. By sourcing some very good imagery, kindly provided from the likes of Ayrshire Golf Scotland and the host venues, PGPR set about writing the new content and co-ordinating the navigation and design of the website. We also called in a favour from one of the designers we work closely with, EM Creative, who kindly came up with several logo options as previously there was no AWGA logo. The new mark was the more formal of the three options but helps greatly with the association’s identity and branding at this stage, both for online and offline.

We also took the opportunity to improve the domain and instead of http://ayrshirewintergolfassociation.webs.com we we secured https://ayrshirewintergolf.com for the new design. The new website has started with 25 pages. There is more that can be done to make the website more interactive for users, but the initial priority was to create a responsive website that is much more aesthetically pleasing. It also provides a suitable platform in which to build and enhance further down the line.
